Up and Up: Plug Valve Replacement 10' in the air
The City of Ottawa Illinois was going thru a major expansion project to their WWTP. They were confronted with the problem of a broken Plug Valve on a 6” sludge line in the basement an existing building. The sludge line could not be shut down for the valve to be repaired or replaced.
The City of Ottawa called RMS Utility Service to see if a Valve Insertion could be done on the sludge line. The pipe was in the lower level of a building and was 6’ in the air making it difficult to get any kind of valve insertion or line stop equipment in where it needed to go. RMS used the EZ Valve system by Advanced Valve Technology because of its compact design and light weight design. After putting up some scaffolding to work from the 6” valve and all the equipment to install it was able to be carried down to the lower level by hand. The installation took less then 2 hours and the valve was installed allowing for the replacement of the existing plug valve.
